ENHANCING YOUR SOCIAL ABILITY BEGINS WITH AWARENESS

  • EMOTIONAL AWARENESS
  • Emotional awareness provides the starting point for both self awareness and awareness of others. The perspective however is on attending to (and being mindful) others,
  • COMMUNICATING
  • The first step in communicating is being mindfully present, allowing you to communicate your agenda and needs in a way that is likely to be received by the other.
  • IDENTIFY YOUR STYLE
  • And respect who you are. This does not mean that you can't modify your behavior and improve interaction . But self respect and respect for others makes this more authentic, and allows you to act in accordance with your values.
  • OUTCOMES BASED INTERACTION
  • Feelings drive action, but emotionally driven action which has a short term focus is ineffective.  Take outcomes based parenting from Topic 1 as the basis, and you will see that interaction requires an understanding of the intent or foundation of the relationship. This then allows you to determine how to engage for success.
  • BARRIERS TO SUCCESS.
  • Emotions that undermine are the core cause of failure.  Your own negative feelings can cause you to  withdraw or abandon a relationship or interaction, or act in a way that is aversive .  Recognizing these blocks is key, and also allows you to recognize where others emotions are driving  unsuccessful behaviors.
  • INSPIRED LEADERSHIP
  • Whether as a leader in business, a teacher, parent or partner, inspired leadership looks to energize,  and support others to act in ways that is mutually beneficial.
